Woke up to a beautiful sunny day in Mussoorie… and a troop of Langur monkeys swinging through the trees. Took a quick trip to the chukar at the top of the hill to view the snows before clouds starting forming. Absolutely gorgeous views including Bandarpunch.

I met with the head of the high school science department, Ray Husthwaite, to discuss their science curriculum. I did not know that all students at Woodstock are in the Advanced Placement (AP) program. Quite impressive!

The science teachers may be able to use some software we’ve developed at my Medical School called ”Virtual Instruments.” Virtual Instruments simulate several different scientific instruments that high school students use to solve a set of problems. He was also interested in learning about what medical school admission committees are looking for in applicants. A fair number of Woodstock kids are interested in medical school.

I ate lunch with some of the staff and students in the cafeteria at the quad. Saw one of my Woodstock classmates, Judy (Smith) Crider, who is a staff member. It was also fun to finally meet Chris Starr in the Alumni Office after exchanging so many emails with him over the years.

I spent the afternoon wandering around the school. Many improvements have been made since I was here. I thought the addition that incresed the size of the library and added new science classrooms in the high school was especially good.

Steve and Amita Alter had a dinner party at their home in Oakville and graciously invited the Mumby and Downs families. It was a very special evening!
